What is For The Mission About?
Cross & Crown Church’s current For the Mission capital campaign is a two-year special initiative starting in February 2024 and continuing through February 2027. After meeting in a home through late 2021, Cross & Crown Church officially launched on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at Wayne A. Cox Elementary.
In 2024, Cross & Crown Church and First Baptist Church Roanoke began discussing what it would look like for our two congregations to come together as one. After 150 years of faithful gospel ministry in the Roanoke area, FBC Roanoke voted in September 2024 to gift the property and assets of their church to Cross & Crown Church and join them in their mission to help people meet and follow Jesus.
Now that the two churches have become one, we must address the renovation of our property, located just one block off Historic Oak Street in Roanoke. We believe this campaign will enable us to reach many people in our area with the gospel for decades to come.
Lord willing, the completion of this campaign and its various goals will help us in three ways:
Established Presence
In Community
Located just one block off Oak Street, our site is rich with potential and has been dedicated to the kingdom for 150 years. Through the For The Mission campaign, Cross & Crown Church has the opportunity to carry this legacy forward. This project will provide Cross & Crown Church with a permanent presence in the community, enhancing its visibility and accessibility. A dedicated building signals permanence and stability, creating a stronger foundation for serving and reaching the community more effectively.
Expanded Ministry Opportunities
The For The Mission campaign goes beyond buildings and finances; it aims to strengthen existing ministries and launch new ones to help more people meet and follow Jesus. A 300-seat auditorium will accommodate future growth, while refreshed spaces for children’s and youth ministries will enhance our outreach to families. New fellowship and group meeting areas will create more discipleship opportunities, and multi-purpose rooms will support regular Bible studies and training, equipping more people for ministry.
Equipping People For Ministry
and Mission
The For The Mission campaign is about far more than building a place to gather—it’s about building a launch pad for kingdom advancement. This initiative will equip Cross & Crown Church with a greater ability to train and send missionaries and church planters locally, nationally, and around the world. By establishing a mission center, we are creating a lasting foundation to fulfill the Great Commission for
generations to come!

Small Sacrifices, Big Impact
Our goal is 100% participation, trusting God to work through each gift. Please pray, seek God’s guidance, and consider what sacrificial giving looks like for you above and beyond your regular giving.
Discerning Your Commitment
-
Allow yourself time to listen and hear from God. Pledge Sunday is February 23.
-
Ask God to guide you on how He is calling you to participate. Be open to His leading and trust.
-
Discuss with your spouse and discern what your commitment gift could be. This is also an opportunity to teach your children about faith and stewardship. This helps children understand the importance of giving and generosity in the Christian life.
